I watched the demo (after submitting my beta request) and I am astonished with what you have done. It does appear that you have met your goal of being on the (hopefully not bleeding) edge of technology with Rythdum. Whether I get a chance to see it early as a Beta participant or not doesn’t really matter. I am now excited about the service you have created and can’t wait to see it go live. Unless you price it out of line, I will certainly financially support your effort.

A question for you - I really enjoy the older music (Lata Mangeshkar& Asha Bhosle in particular)and older songs for movie songs(Amar, Milan, the old Umrao Jaan, Pakeezah, Barsaat Ki Raat are examples that come to mind). The quality of these recording would certainly not be up to modern standards. Will these sound better or worse with the new technology? Is the any way to enhance the experience of these older recordings? Or are you aiming primarily at the newer musical offerings?

January 13th, 2008 at 7:23 am
How can I login?
January 13th, 2008 at 8:09 am
I am very much interested in joining. I am even prepared to support your effforts financially. Prior to doing so, I want to be convinced that the services and the quality is to the expectations. I just joined and was very impressed with the demo presesntation.
I am very much excited and looking forward to it.
January 13th, 2008 at 9:43 am
Just listened to the music. Excellent quality.
Congratultions on your efforts and wish you all the best.
Superb work that I am sure will only get better.
May be I haven’t fully explored the interface, but following comments:
1. Album scroll - Once you select Album, the Album vertical scroll jumps back to the top. It should stay at the last selection so that the next album can be easily selected.
2. Is it possible to save several playlists?
January 13th, 2008 at 11:33 am
Nice portal ANAND, keep up the good work. i was looking something of this sort to listen to indian music from ages. Thank you for u r hardwork i am looking forward to Rhydhun………….
January 13th, 2008 at 11:36 am
I had a question similar to Alka, how do I access Rhydhun. I finally figured out but it was not obvious.
You may want to include the following in your instructions:
1. After install, access Rhydhun from Program menu.
2. Mention about the connection to Internet and IP addresses. Most people would not be aware how to set this up and what choices to make.
January 13th, 2008 at 11:40 am
The quality of sound and the interface is excellent.
May be I haven’t fully explored the interface…
A couple of comments:
1. After selecting the Album, the vertical Album scroll jumps to the top. It would be preferable to keep it at the last select, so that the next album can be selected easily.
2. Is it possible to save several playlists by the users.
January 13th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
Dear Anand,

Anand:
I think this is a fantastic idea - something that is very much needed today. I listen to western internet radio often and have always been waiting for something like this! Thanks for starting this.
On a more technical note, I just signed up for the beta program, but am unable to activate my account under the link you have in this post. Is there anything specific I need to do, or do I need to wait for my “invite”?
Thanks

Can someone help with the connection issue.
1. When I am using VPN connection to connect to the internet, “Auto Detect Proxy Settings” does not seem to work on Rhydhun and it times out.
2. When I am using regular home network to connect to internet, “Auto Detect Proxy Settings” works and Rhydhun connects fine.
January 15th, 2008 at 12:57 am
Anand,
Excellent application. Its a pleasure listening to music on Rhydhun. A couple of comments tho:
1. I can’t seem to be able to save my playlist. That would be really helpful.
2. Musicindia has an option to access the lyrics of the songs. I don’t see the same option here.
January 15th, 2008 at 1:23 am
Hi
I encountered a couple of bugs in the software. I thought it would be a good idea to let the creator know.
1. if in the DB the song does not have any music director/singer set, it should show nothing there. But instead the previous songs details are displayed which might confuse the user.
2.In the play back controls, instead of naming the shuffle button as in menu, the icon has been named repeat which can confuse the user .
thanks

The concept is great. Your intro vedio clip had problem in sound quality when I clicked the site first time. Please check. I also have difficulty logging on.
Thanks

Anand,
Definitely good job. A couple of issues though - some of the songs (3-4 tracks in Oram po (tamil/2007)) play half way through. There is a dead silence in the beginning and the track length seems to be off.
The other issue is when searching for Billa, in the sarch bar right below the player, I ended up with a completely red screen in the browser pane. For some reason I’m not able to replicate this error.
Overall, GREAT job. Keep up the good work. Are you planning on permitting music downloads? As much as I like the player, I would like to be able to play the music offline on my music player.
January 15th, 2008 at 3:33 pm
Hi Anand,
Nice presentation of the app. but a quick question on logging into the app. it keeps saying “Connection timed-out. Please check your internet connection.” I don’t get what is that error. Do I’ve to use a proxy to connect or any goofy tech knowledge to connect?
thanks,
HJ

The program is great for my uses, but I’m having a problem with the program. Any song that I listen to that is more than 13 minutes, stops at exactly 12 minutes and 40 . What can I do about this problem? Is there something that you have to update to fix it?
Otherwise, the program is great!
January 17th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
Anand,
the sound quality is excellent. Please make sure the titles of the songs match with the audio. I clicked on Endaro mahanubhavulu by Balamurali but it is playing Kanakana Ruchira. when i click on Kanakana it plays Sadhinchane. Please correct these errors. Wonderful effort overall. Thanks so much.

January 18th, 2008 at 9:24 am

Hi,
I am anxiously waiting for including me in your list. I am looking for listening to good music.
January 19th, 2008 at 3:00 am
Great effort and more albums than musicindia.
One problem i had :
after about 12 minutes 30 seconds the audio stops even though the counter continues moving.
January 19th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
Anand,
I have been an active member and fan of musicindiaonline.com.
The collection across genre, indian languages it is gold mine. If you can access the goldmine with the new Rydhun tool, it would be awsome, if it at a fee. I am/have been subscribing to Nepstar, yahoo music, itune. Specially for an Indian music diehard, the combination of music idia online vault with Rydhun player would be a sucess.
Best,
Anand

Actually it is good to see good quality Indian music online, rather I use to listen to radioNri. Being fond of computer programming languages (hobby only) I can understand this programme is under debugging stage. It requires a lot thing to do, like:
1. The player and Navigation portions should be detachable.
2. In some menus RED screen coming, I hope its because proper linking is not working.( At least “TODO” should be placed to keep users informed.
3.One request for low bandwidth user: if possible songs in playlist should get buffered in background will keep continuity in playing songs. I feel waiting/breaking in some songs.
By the way this pious service for Music it self is great and greater than anything. Definitely MusicLovers will subscribe when it goes paid, including me.
Keep updating the database.
Thanks

Congratulaions on the excellent effort. I am a Carnatic Music listener, got invitation through musicindiaonline, installed Rhidhun the same day.It is great that you have got into it everything systematically, with good sound quality too-which is especially gratifying for Carnatic listeners who have very few sites to depend upon.Few problems I have encountered are given below-may be because I am no computer expert.
1)I could get the Rhidhun Shortcut icon on the desktop only after many manovers. It would be good if the shortcut is created automatically in the desktop after installation
2)Searching for violin by Gopalakrishnan M.S. along Home>Classical>Carnatic>Instrumental>View To 100 Artists Chart>Selecting No:16 Gopalakrishnan.M.S. gets one to the page of Pyare Mohan(2006)
3)When hearing long tracks the sound just goes of after the first 10 to 12 minutes, repeatedly, from the same point Eg.
(a)Album-Cascade of Nectar from Lalgudis-Track No:5-Kamalambam Bhajare
(b)Album-The Boundless Genius Gopalakrishnan MS-Track No:3-Subramanyena
(c)Album-The Boundless Genius Gopalakrishnan MS-Track No:5-Ganamosaga Rada
Excuse me if I am wrong

Great app! I’m hooked up already.
A couple of things:
1. No prefetching of the next item in the playlist! I get a looong silence between songs on my not-so-lightning-fast connection.
2. Playlists aren’t stored on the server. When I’m at work, I can’t see the playlist I created at home.
3. No option to add a song you found by searching to the playlist without interrupting what is currently playing.

Hi Anand,
First of all HATS OFF to for a wonderful product. I have been listening to music on musicindiaonline.com for quite some time. Kudos to you for this great product. I feel that the beta version is quite up to the mark, barring some small minor glitches here and there. As some others commented, I feel that you should look as to how you can make this product finacially viable.
One of the things I would like to bring to your attention. It has been pointed by Mr. Shyam Murali and Mr. Govind. An audio more than 13 minutes stops after about 12 mins 40 secs, but the counter keeps on progressing.
January 25th, 2008 at 11:26 am
Dear Anand
Your love for music is matched by your wish for sharing your enjoyment! Great service to music lovers and Kudos on your very impressive effort.
Rhydhun sound quality is superb. While it is very easy to find and point out glitches. But all that you have achieved in this great beta version deserves appreciation from all music lovers.
I have enjoyed every bit of what I heard, carnatic- especially MS amma’s; urdu ghazals- of Jagjit si
gh and Fareeda Khanum ansd some of the latest Hindi movies. They are all excellent sound.
I hope you have easy way of getting all music india collection into this!
May be in your mail box seggregate suggestion and appreciation, such that you may be able to fix a few easier issues. May I present some of the points that appear of immediate concern at least to me- needs your attention! Also mentioned by others as follows.

Dear Anand,
Rhydhun is a nice player, and with the largest indian music database (I know) it has become a great product. I have been using it for a few weeks now, and has received an upgrade in the meantime. Regarding upgrade, I have folowing comments: (I am using windows vista)
- During upgrade whole of the playlist was lost, and apparently all songs in the cache were also lost. Could there be a way to keep the playlist during upgrades?
- In the earlier version, if a song has been downloaded and played, it remains in cache and could be played without actually re-dowloading it next time. But current upgrade, download the song each time I try to play it from playlist. Can something be done to get th old feature back?
